Evaluating your project

When all students finally submit your work (March 17), I'd like you to all make a special evaluation BLOG ENTRY reflecting on what you have achieved. This isnt a place to grip about tehcnical problems etc, it's a place for productive thought.

Your questions are as follows - Try and write about 100-200 words under each:

EVALUATION QUESTIONS

Did any personal significance of your song inform your film - if so how?

How do you hope your film would effect a viewer?

Which stages of the project did you find the most challenging and why?

What strategies - if any! - did you use to overcome these problems?

If you re-approached the project now, what would you do differently?

What advice would you give another student about to start this project?

IMPORTANT INFO ON CONTACTING KAREN!

Just to let you know, my permanent employment here at SMC ends on 28th Feb. I'm continuing to teach Mondays, so if you need to get in touch with me (please - emergencies only!) you will need to use my private email address - karen 'at' somewhere 'dot' org 'dot' uk

Reminder

Just to remind you all that technical support will be provided as usual at the following times in AXB 032:

Mon (Lesson) 1.30-3pm
Wed 9am-10.30am
Fri 9am-10.30am

Remember also that you are all able to sign out a key from main reception on production of your college library card, and gain access to room AXB 032 from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Progress

Now that there is only one taught week left, a few students have almost finished their music video project - We viewed Simon Jobson's completed DVD today. It looks like many of you have really enjoyed the planning and execution of the film and are getting the hang of the edit software.
A number of you (students!) have not begun to actually shoot yet - My advice is that the minimum time you will need to set aside JUST for the edit is 2 x 8 hr days. So make sure you get your diary out and actually plan what else you have to do before that point.

Also remember:
Your storyboard is a tool for you - it should be descriptive enough that someone else could shoot your film for you based on it

One hour of video footage takes one hour to feed in to the Mac even before you start editing - no short cuts!
